The 7th CPC pay matrix is a single table of 18 levels (with Level 13A inserted) and about 540 cells that replaced the earlier system of pay bands and grade pay, notified in the CCS (Revised Pay) Rules, 2016, with a Level 1 entry of Rs 18,000 and a Level 18 fixed cell of Rs 2,50,000.
